The Easy Crochet Baby Blanket is created using a beautiful stitch pattern, Sedge stitch. The pattern is created using a basic single crochet, half-double crochet, and double crochet stitch, in a pattern of clusters.

SINGLE CROCHET– (sc) Insert your hook, yarn over (yo) and pull up a loop, yo pull through two loops.
HALF DOUBLE CROCHET (hdc) yo, insert your hook, yo and pull up a loop, yo, pull through three loops.
DOUBLE CROCHET (dc)- yo, insert your hook, yo and pull up a loop, yo, pull through two loops, yo, pull through last two loops.
SPECIAL STITCH
R1. Skip 2 chain stitches [1 single crochet (sc), 1 half double crochet (hdc), 1 double crochet (dc)] into the same (ch) stitch (st). *skip 2 chain stitches, [1 single crochet,1 half double crochet,1 double crochet] into the next chain stitch. Also, Repeat from * to the last 3 stitches, skip 2 chain stitches, 1 single crochet in the last chain stitch; and turn work.
R2. Chain 1 (will count as first sc), [1hdc, 1dc] into next st, *skip [1hdc, 1dc] prev row, work [1sc,1hc,dc] into next sc, rep from *to last 3 sts, skip [1dc,1hdc] 1sc, ch 1 tw.

R1: In 2nd ch from hook [sc, hdc, dc] in the same stitch, *sk 2, ch sts, [sc, hdc, dc], in the next ch st, repeat from *, to last 3 ch sts, sk 2 ch sts, place 1sc in last ch st; tw.
R2-R120: ch1 (counts as first sc), hdc, dc] into next st, * skip [1hdc, 1dc] from previous row, place [1sc, 1hc, 1dc] into next space (the sc st from the previous row), repeat from *to last 3 sts, skip [1dc,1hdc] 1sc; ch 1, tw.
Repeat Row 2 until you reach the desired blanket size.
NOTE: 120 rows are needed for a Baby Blanket
Finish off by securing and weaving in ends. I finished the blanket, by tying it off and weaving in the ends.
Optional: A border is not necessary with this blanket, as the ends are beautifully textured already.
