    1. Hi Teresa, thanks for reaching out. This Beret/Tam is really designed for Adults- size L/XL but it can be customized to fit an Adult Small/Med without changing the overall structure of the pattern. At the end of the Pattern- The section titled OPTIONAL ROUNDS will show you how to adjust the circumference for a tighter/ more snug fit (a smaller size Adult head 20-21″).

When you start your decrease rounds it will take you down from 120 stitches to 60 stitches. Then you’ll create the Brim. Once you create the last round of the Brim you’ll have additional options to make the Beret/Tam fit snugly by following the Optional Steps Section.

I added an elastic band to my beret, at the last round (20) for a one-size-fit design but this step is not necessary for the pattern. I mentioned this step in the video tutorial but I didn’t add that option to the written pattern.

This is not a pattern for babies or even toddlers; however, if you have a child with a 21″ head circumference this pattern could work (using the optional steps). Please note, if you choose to recreate this design for a baby or a toddler you’ll have to recreate the entire structure as there will be too much fabric in the dome area of the beret

If you want, you can email me for additional clarity or additional tips that I may be able to assist with at ahselanne@gmail.com

      Thanks again for reaching out,
      Felicia
